Frequently asked questions
General
Do you accept insurance/ medicare/ medicaid?
We do not accept insurance at this time. This is because our biggest priority is exceptional service. We prefer to serve our clients’ needs, not the algorithms and restrictions of an intermediary, such as an insurance company.
Why have I never heard of neurofeedback or frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) before?
Great question. Both technologies have been used by elite industry and athletic professionals for decades. And now, it’s your turn to experience powerful, non-invasive results.
What are your office hours?
We see clients by scheduled appointment only as we are often working around multiple flight/travel schedules, training days, and busy itineraries. We prioritize convenience and flexibility for our clients by delivering services in their preferred settings, whether it’s in the comfort of their own home, the familiarity of their training facility, or any other designated space. Most of our appointments are completed during the hours of 7am – 8pm EST, with flexibility on weekdays and weekends.

Neurofeedback (NF)
What is neurofeedback and how does it work?
Neurofeedback is a method of brain training where sensors on your head measure brain activity, and you get feedback through visuals or sounds. This helps you learn to control your mind, body, and self-regulation mechanisms better over time. LEARN MORE
What conditions or issues can neurofeedback help with?
Neurofeedback can potentially help with medical conditions as well as physical symptoms, including things like anxiety, ADHD, and sleep problems by training your brain to work more efficiently. Its effectiveness can vary, and it might not work for everyone or all problems.
Is neurofeedback safe?
Yes, neurofeedback is generally safe when done by trained professionals. It usually doesn’t cause any harm or discomfort, but it’s good to discuss any concerns with your provider.
How many neurofeedback sessions are typically needed?
The number of sessions can differ, but we generally recommend doing 6 sessions within 3 weeks to get a good feel for how you can benefit from neurofeedback. Some clients feel effects during the first session, some clients report effects after 2-3 sessions, and some after 6 or more sessions. But usually, clients undergo multiple sessions because they experience meaningful results and like the way they feel. Changes take time, and the number of sessions will depend on your specific needs and progress, as well as the choices you make around your daily life. Remember, after a client completes their first 12 neurofeedback sessions within an 8 week timeframe with Modern Human, additional sessions have a reduced price.
What can I expect during a neurofeedback session?
In a session, you’ll have sensors placed on your head to monitor your brainwaves, and you’ll watch visuals or listen to sounds that change based on your brain’s activity. Each session may last around 30 minutes, and over time, you will observe improved control over your brain’s responses, as well as other benefits. Clients report experiencing meaningful results and like the way they feel.
Is my brain getting zapped with electricity when I’m getting neurofeedback?
Absolutely not. There is no live electrical current involved in neurofeedback and the sensors applied to the head are passive—meaning they are only collecting information on your brain signals through the scalp. No zapping or electricity delivery involved of any kind.
Does neurofeedback produce permanent results?
Generally, yes. The technology used by Modern Human is specifically chosen to deliver long-lasting results. That being said, the permanence of results from neurofeedback can vary and largely depends on the choices and changes the client makes in their daily living. Neurofeedback can lead to lasting improvements, but factors like the specific issue being addressed, the client’s commitment to the training, and any ongoing lifestyle factors can influence how long the benefits of neurofeedback endure.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)
What is frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) and how does it work?
Frequency specific microcurrent is a therapy that uses very low electrical currents to target specific tissues and cells in the body. It’s helps with pain relief, inflammation reduction, and tissue healing. FSM works by applying tiny electrical frequencies to the body, which can have various effects like relaxing muscles, reducing pain, and improving cellular communication. These frequencies are involved with stimulating the body’s natural healing processes. LEARN MORE
What conditions can frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) treat?
FSM is often used for pain management, inflammation reduction, and tissue repair in conditions like muscle injuries, nerve pain, and joint issues. Of course, its effectiveness varies depending on the individual and the specific condition.
Is frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) safe?
Yes, FSM is considered safe when administered by trained practitioners. The electrical currents used are extremely low and work at the cellular level, but it’s important to discuss any concerns with your provider.
How many frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) sessions are typically needed?
The number of sessions needed can vary depending on your condition and how your body responds to treatment, as well as the choices you make around your daily life. Some people might feel relief after just a few sessions, while others might need more to experience significant results. We will guide you on the recommended treatment plan.
What can I expect during a frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) treatment?
During an FSM treatment, you’ll sit, stand, or lie comfortably while the practitioner applies gentle electrical currents using small electrodes on your skin. You might feel a mild tingling sensation in the very beginning at the moment the current is turned on. The session can last 30-45 minutes or longer, depending on what is being treated.
Is frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) the same thing as a TENS device treatment?
No. While FSM devices are approved by the FDA under the TENS device category, FSM and a TENS device are not the same. FSM uses very low electrical currents at specific frequencies to target tissues and promote healing, while a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) device delivers electrical pulses that are 1,000x higher amperage (voltage) to reduce pain by blocking nerve signals. They have different purposes and methods, even though they both involve using electrical currents for therapeutic benefits.
Does frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) produce permanent results?
Generally, yes. The technology used by Modern Human is specifically chosen to deliver long-lasting results. That being said, the permanence of results from frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) can vary and largely depends on the choices and changes the client makes in their daily living. While some people experience longer-lasting relief after a series of treatments, the effects might not be permanent for everyone, and occasional maintenance sessions could be needed to sustain the benefits over time.
